These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Memex application (“App”). By using Memex, you agree to these Terms. The App is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Terms of Use), which applies alongside these Terms.
Memex is an AI Markdown canvas application for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It lets you arrange Markdown documents and PDFs on an infinite canvas, connect them, write around them with Apple Pencil, ask an AI chat about what you add to it, and make images from text or handwriting. Memex supports local storage and iCloud Drive sync. AI replies and images are generated automatically and can be wrong; check anything important.
The Memex notebook is free. Notes, Markdown documents, canvases, Apple Pencil, imports, bookmarks, search and iCloud sync do not require a subscription and remain fully usable after cancellation of Memex AI.
Memex AI is an optional subscription. You can try 5 free AI chat messages before buying AI access. Memex AI costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US; Apple shows your local price and billing interval at purchase time. Both plans include 300 AI credits each paid month: a chat message uses 1 credit and an image uses 20. Paid subscription credits refresh each month from the start of your paid subscription, including on the annual plan, and do not roll over. The app shows your next refresh date. Eligible new subscribers receive a 7-day free trial with 50 credits total. Subscriptions are billed through Apple and renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. They can be managed or canceled through your Apple account. Paid AI access continues until the subscription period ends; your free notebook and existing content remain available afterward.
You can also buy 200 AI credits for $3.99 in the US, with or without a subscription. This is a one-time consumable in-app purchase through Apple, not an auto-renewing plan. Purchased credits never expire and are spent after any available trial or monthly subscription credits. They remain usable if your subscription ends. The app shows your balance and local price before purchase.
Your files and content remain yours. We claim no ownership over documents, canvases, ink, images you make, or any other content you create or import into Memex. All content is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud Drive account, except what you send through the AI features, as described in the Privacy Policy. AI replies and images you make are yours to use, subject to the usage policies of OpenRouter, OpenAI and Black Forest Labs.
Memex is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
