Memex 3.3
I copied my Obsidian vault into Memex and handwrote on top of my notes.
Your notes are plain files. Copy the vault folder into Memex on your iPad and it works the way you expect. Then put your notes on an infinite canvas, write around them with Apple Pencil, and ask the AI about what is on the canvas. Obsidian stays exactly as it was.
Copy your vault in
- Install Memex and choose where it keeps your files (iCloud Drive or this iPad).
- In Memex, tap Import File or Folder and pick your vault. Or copy the folder into iCloud Drive › Memex in the Files app.
- Open a note, add it to a canvas, and write around it.
What works
- [[Wikilinks]]
- Every form: aliases, folders, headings, blocks. Resolved the way Obsidian resolves them.
- ![[Embeds]]
- Images with widths, PDFs, notes as links.
- Frontmatter and %%comments%%
- Kept in the file byte for byte, hidden when you read.
- Renames
- Rename or move a note and every link to it follows.
- Your canvases
- Obsidian canvases open as Memex canvases. The first edit keeps your original beside it.
- Hidden folders
- .obsidian and .trash come along and stay out of the way.
Not in this version: plugins, Dataview, templates, daily notes, transclusion inside notes, syncing with a live vault. Memex works on a copy you own. Tell us what you miss and the most asked-for feature is built next.
